Farm Water Demonstration Field Days | Burrumbuttock & Walla Walla

Join West Hume Landcare and Corowa District Landcare along with a series of expert speakers as we showcase a range of practical measures to enhance on-farm water security.

Each field day will feature a variety of speakers, topics and demonstrations - come along to Burrumbuttock, Walla Walla or both on-farm field days on the 20th May 2025.

Burrumbuttock Field Day | Tuesday 20th May 2025 | 10am to 12pm

Featuring expert guest presenters David Thompson and Geoff Minchin (Local Land Services)

Visit a fenced farm dam site to view:

- a constructed hardened access point to confine stock access to a small section of the dam
- solar pump, troughs and tank set up

These actions will improve water quality and enhance the biodiversity and aesthetic values of the property.

Hear from expert speakers and discuss:

- dam construction and design
- catchment issues
- developing a water audit
- the importance of water quality for stock health and productivity, and the biodiversity benefits of farm dam enhancement

When booking, please indicate if you would also like to attend the Walla Walla Field Day. Lunch will be provided on-farm at Walla Walla at 12.30pm, with the session commencing at 1pm (details below).

Walla Walla Field Day | Tuesday 20th May 2025 | 1pm to 3pm

Featuring expert guest presenters David Thompson and Geoff Minchin (Local Land Services)

Our Walla Walla field day will showcase the value of a well designed reticulation system of pump, tanks and troughs, and will demonstrate a series of trough types and base setups.

These actions have enabled the subdivision of paddocks for improved stock productivity.

Hear from expert speakers and discuss:

- the benefits of a reticulation system over dams for stock watering

- how to design and pitfalls to avoid when establishing a reticulation system

- the water quality improvements from a reticulation system and benefits for stock health and productivity
